RE: Fifth Wheel Towing

I'm about 5'11" and would find it very difficult to plug and unplug with the connection ahead of the wheel well on my 08 3500 dually 4x4. I have always put the plug behind the wheel on the drivers side, you can reach in with the tail gate down and have easy access.
The IBC is easy, the instructions are in the manual but I just started at the half way point and went up or down from there to get the right setting, it works great too..

RE: Small high-end fifth-wheel??

The Carriage Domani line is pretty swank and modern. They are around 31ft total length.

RE: Sewer hose support necessary?

Have you ever seen the hose laying on the ground and then it has to go up a few inches to get into the sewer pipe? That is a hose full of trouble waiting to happen....

I have not seen or used them on my 5vr but have used them on a Toyota Celica and they were great for that application....

RE: My Unofficial Tow Vehicle Survey.

I figure because I own a Chevy, I see more of them, have you ever noticed that when you buy a new vehicle all of a sudden you see lots and lots of them? I would have to say in all honesty, when I walk around campgrounds, it is pretty much even across the board....
You mean I shouldn't keep counting mine every time I walk by it in the CG???
Yeah, thats the ticket!

RE: DEEPER BEDS ON NEW CHEVY TRUCKS

I used to have the 4x now the dually. If you go to Chevy.com under shopping tools on the left hand side, you can "find a vehicle" and do it by zip code starting with the basic levels of truck. I found my last truck in Connecticut and visited family while I was there. You can work a deal online even with your trade if you work hard enough. I spent about an hour total at the dealer after working everything out online when I picked up the new truck.. I say it handles better because of the weight of the trailer more then anything else... I found the ride to be much better (softer) then the dodge when not loaded with the trailer...

RE: Chev-Trailer Brake -Jumper Harness- Under Dash???

I'm guessing it has more to do with the integrated brake controller and not wanting to have 2 hooked up at the same time so when they make the harness, they just put both in place and hook up what ever you have ordered... But I'm just guessing...

Did I mention the long bed vice the short bed and the additional fuel you get with the larger tank?

RE: Chev-Trailer Brake -Jumper Harness- Under Dash???

I know the new body styles have a wire bundle up under the dash to connect your controller into and the is a cable under the hood that will need to be connected. Not sure what the bundle looks like or exactly where to find the end of it but it should be up there.

RE: DEEPER BEDS ON NEW CHEVY TRUCKS

I too had the LT and it has almost all the goodies. This has all but the sun roof and navigation (but I was not looking for those 2 things anyway) I love the new interior (the 06 Tahoe is just like the 04 truck) and the better handling with the camper attached. The new engine and transmission help too, it is much quieter and seems to be less stress on the whole set up when traveling through the hills of VA and TN last month. There is also the fact that it's a NEW truck right?

Hidden Hitch often has no drill applications and I have used them in every truck I've owed where I needed to add or replace a hitch...

RE: DEEPER BEDS ON NEW CHEVY TRUCKS

I have to say, I LOVE THE NEW TRUCK!!!!!!!!!
I figure the bed squats a bit when I hook up (have not measured) and there is only about an inch difference based upon my in bed tool box that I moved from the old truck to the new one. So 2 or so inches of squat and an inch higher bed rail, that would add up to your 3 extra inches. I didn't change anything on my fiver or the hight of my hitch and everything worked out fine...

RE: Reese no drill mounting kit?

Ever wonder how many people know that on many fiver hitch rail installation, only two bolts actually attach the rails to the truck's frame? The rest only to sheet metal.
I suspect only those of us that have done the install ourselves.. Those custom brackets use 4 per rail bolted to the bracket itself.

RE: Reese no drill mounting kit?

I like how the rails attach to the custom brackets much better then the universal. One of the 2 holes on each side of the rail only bolts to the bed itself on the universal type, where both holes on the rail are used to bolt to the bracket. I did have to drill the front hole in the frame on my 08 3500 long bed but that was probably easier then getting the nuts on back side in the closed frame...
